Rodriguez Trujillo, Vladimir (Dr.)

Dr. Rodriguez is a senior researcher with over 10 years of research career. It has doctorate at the Barcelona Tech - UPC. The focus of his research in this period is related to his interest in technology, materials and construction history. His doctoral thesis, born in the interest of knowing the constructive origin of the Chiquitos Jesuit Church, built in 18 c., UNESCO heritage, located at east of Bolivia. Several publications impact in international journals and conferences were made from the conclusions of this project.

The sensitivity for the proper use of technical and indoor of built space, helped Rodriguez, before Ph.D., to study a Bioconstruction course at the University of Bologna, Italy. This inclination towards low impact architecture, is present from their undergraduate studies conducted in Architecture at the University of Santa Cruz (UPSA) in Bolivia.

Currently his research is focused on the concept, design and implementation of innovative building components based on materials with low environmental impact. Rodriguez has directed several projects and consultancies in Europe and America to academic and industrial sector.

His experience as a researcher is closely related to business-university collaboration. He has worked for 5 years at the Catalan Institute of Wood, where he conducted applied research in finding solutions for strengthening and competitiveness of industries in the sector. In this area he has also gained experience in developing proposals for research projects for public and private funds, and lead new international research consortia.

Dr. Rodriguez is an active member in the management of European research networks related to timber structures, he has participated in the Cost Action FP1101 and is currently participating in the Cost Action FP1402. In addition, Rodriguez is a member of the research council of the Academy of Sciences of Bolivia.
